Dr Kamiel Gabriel is the founding Associate Provost of Research at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. He is well-known for his research in energy conservation and heat recovery, a key part of UOIT's leadership in diverse renewable energy research.

Dr Kamiel Gabriel

Dr Kamiel Gabriel is the founding Associate Provost, Research & Graduate Programs at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).  He holds a BSc (honors) degree and MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alexandria, and a PhD degree from the University of Manitoba. Dr Gabriel holds a diploma in Space Science from the International Space University in France, and an MBA from the International Business Centre at the University of Saskatchewan.

Since 1982, Dr Gabriel's research has focused on developing new applications in the area of heat transport systems for terrestrial and space applications. His research efforts in the area of energy conservation and heat-recovery systems have led to the design of an innovative heat exchanger for the recovery of waste heat. He is a co-holder of a US patent in this technology. Since 1988, Dr Gabriel has participated in the Canadian Space Science Program leading to the design and testing of a thermal transport system for space applications.
 
Dr Gabriel has published extensively in his field of research and is the guest speaker in several national and international conferences and workshops. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) and has received numerous awards and citations.
