The Women's College Research Institute has two primary research objectives, to:
- Generating knowledge about women's health and health maintenance across the lifespan
- Designing ambulatory care innovations that can translate research knowledge into improved care for women and their families.

| Current examples of Initiatives |
- Determine the risk factors, consequences and time course of pain in osteoarthritis, with a focus on inter-relationships among pain, fatigue and mental health
- Identifying treatment and management strategies for women who develop breast and ovarian cancer associated with genetic mutations;
- Study the impact of antiretroviral therapies on HIV+ women including their virological and immunological efficacy and their associated toxicities
- Work with emergency providers as part of Ontario's Domestic Violence Action Plan to develop evidence-based training on domestic violence
- The pharmacological management of chronic diseases in older adults
