| Research Area/Focus | The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is a new, innovative cancer research institute with a focus on prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment. Established in 2005 by the Government of Ontario, OICR is a not-for-profit research institute that is moving Ontario to the forefront of discovery and innovation, taking on significant challenges in cancer research with multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional teams. The research is focused on the discovery of new concepts and the translation of research findings into programs, technologies and therapies. |

Dr. Thomas J. Hudson, President and Scientific Director of OICR, was the founder and director of the McGill University and Genome Quebec Innovation Centre, and Assistant Director of the Whitehead/MIT Center for Genome Research. Internationally renowned for his work in genomics, Dr. Hudson led the effort to generate dense physical and gene maps of the human and mouse genomes.
