The BIMR maintains central facilities for materials research, such as high temperature crystal growth laboratories which are unique in Canada, metallography facilities, a helium liquifier, and a Photonics Research Laboratory. It is also the site of the Canadian National Ultrahigh Resolution Microscope Facility. |
| Current Examples of Intitiatives |
A new ultrahigh resolution microscope will be commissioned by June 2007, which will combine recent breakthroughs in the development of advanced electron microscopes to produce an instrument with unprecedented spatial and energy resolution. |
